Vina Maipo Alto tajamar Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon
|Region||Quinta de Maipa, Buin, Maipo Valley, Chile|
|Grape||Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon|
|Brand||Vina Maipo Winery|
Variety: Syrah 88%, Cabernet Sauvignon 12%
Origin: Quinta de Maipo vineyard, DO Buin, Maipo Valley
Soil: Year after year we choose the best blocks of grapes from three different soils in the Quinta de Maipo vineyard.
- Hillside: Tectonic in origin with a clay structure, this shallow soil has very low fertility and produces small, concentrated clusters that lend weight and structure to the Syrah planted in this sector.
- Upper Terrace: Alluvial soil with volcanic ash deposits and asilty-loam structure; this sector is also planted with Syrah and produces wines with smooth, elegant tannins.
- Lower Terrace: The soil is alluvial in origin, with a sandy structure and extremely rocky, with very low fertility and good drainage that offers ideal conditions for growing classic, concentrated, and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon
This unique and privilege climate has some interesting factors, such as: constant winds that blow in from the Pacific Ocean in the morning and then down from the Andes Mountains in the afternoon. The daytime-nighttime temperature differential characteristic of Maipo Alto, and the moderating effect of the Maipo River.
Harvest: Handpicked in late April 2010
Aging: 26 months in French oak barrels (40% new, 60% with 1 or 2 years of use)
Residual sugar: 2,99 g/l
Total acidity: 5.85 g/l

Aroma: A complex wine with fruity notes of fresh blackberries, cherries, and sweet spices such as cloves and cinnamon accompanied by delicate aromas of tobacco and cocoa.
Palate: The palate expresses the perfect balance of elegance and potency. Flavorful and expansive , with a lively acidity that lends depth and freshness. Firm, smooth tannins give this wine a long, persistent finish.
The winemakers deeply believe in the nobility of the Quinta de Maipo vineyard, and time has allowed them to witness surprising results. The winemaker now wish to take a step further and blend the best lots of Syrah and
Cabernet Sauvignon to give full expression to this faithful portrait of its origin.
