Terraza de Los Andes Chardonnay (Reserva)

Region Mendoza, Argentina
Vintage 2010
Grape Chardonnay
Category White
Brand Terrazas de Los Andes
Vintage Notes
The 2010 vintage was classic and satisfactory. Weather conditions determined significantly pronounced seasons, considering that spring frosts reduced yield and helped increase grape quality. Summer was mild, whilst autumn was cool, dry and long. This led to a slow ripeness, resulting in distinct varietal, naturally acid and fruity wines.
Tasting Notes
Watch this light yellow, slightly green wine catch the light in the glass. With an intense & highly fruited nose, aromas such as peach & fresh apricot blend beautifully with delicate floral notes of jasmine & fresh lime tree. Discern white chocolate, hazelnut and coconut in there too, adding to the wine’s complexity in the mouth. Deep & well-rounded, this is a supremely balanced offer due to the acidity & natural sweetness that characterize our Chardonnay. Barrel-aging adds even more complexity & roundness. The finish is elegant and persistent.

At the end of the 1950s, the famous French Champagne house, Moët & Chandon, realized there was an enormous potential for growth in South America. They sent their wine analyst, Renaud Poirier, to study the possibility of expansion. Monsieur Poirier finally proved that Luján de Cuyo, a region within the province of Mendoza, was the best place for the birth of fine wines. In 1960, Chandon Argentina was established, the first subsidiary of Moët & Chandon outside France.

To make the Terrazas de los Andes wines, Chandon Argentina took the initiative to restore this building, located in the heart of Perdriel and at the foot of the imposing Cordón del Plata (a section of the Andes Mountain Range).

Dedicated to Chardonnay, Tupungato lies at the heart of a valley with magnificent views of the just-there Andes. Shallow, sandy soil, and a dry climate are a haven for grapevines accustomed to growing at high altitudes.

With a 16°C difference between day and night during the summer growing months, the cold nights enable the grapes to lock in all the aromas and flavors the plants produce during the warm daylight hours.
