Marked by ideal seasonal weather and perfect conditions at flowering, the 2013 growing season produced an extraordinarily high-quality harvest. The onset of the growing season began with mild conditions, allowing full-fruit expression and optimal growth. With the absence of significant frost and low humidity, this vintage produced a bountiful crop with mature flavors and an elegant structure.
Mother Nature provided a generous crop that ripened early in the Lodi American Viticultural Area (AVA), one of the first recognized winegrowing appellations in California. Unusually dry conditions
allowed for natural canopy control, resulting in gentle ripening and concentrated fruit expression. Warm days were tempered by cool breezes from the San Joaquin Delta, allowing grapes to reach
full maturity, yielding a well-balanced, fruit-expressive vintage.
Our Pinot Noir grapes were crushed and fermented with a selected yeast strain in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The young wine finished both primary and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation was completed, we aged the wine in French oak from a variety of coopers, which added a nice toast and spiciness to the flavor profile.

Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with a vision to create Napa Valley wines that would stand in the company of the world’s finest. He chose To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley as the home for Robert Mondavi Winery. This first-growth vineyard, located in Oakville, California, is renowned for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world, as well as for its Sauvignon Blanc grapes, from which Mr. Mondavi crafted his signature wine, Fumé Blanc.
Along with To Kalon Vineyard, Robert Mondavi Winery sources grapes from some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards, including Stag’s Leap (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc) and Carneros (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).
Mr. Mondavi believed that wines should reflect their origins, that they are the product of the soil, the climate, and the careful stewardship of those precious resources. He also believed in combining the newest techniques and technology with time-honored winemaking traditions.
