Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Moscato
|Region||California, United States|
|Grape||Muscat Canelli, Orange Muscat, Muscat|
|Brand||Robert Mondavi Winery|
Bud break occurred two weeks early during the 2014 growing season, which pushed up the timing of harvest accordingly. Warmer-than-average temperatures, along with a lack of any rain events, led to early ripening and an accelerated harvest. The warm days paired with cool nights made for excellent growing conditions, producing exceptional quality grapes with smaller berries and more concentrated flavor.
Believed to be the oldest known grape used for winemaking, Muscat is still popular throughout many of the world’s best winegrowing regions. The majority of our Moscato’s intensely perfumed grapes are harvested from north valley vineyards, including the Lodi region surrounding our winery. Here, sunny days and cooling winds from the Sacramento River Delta provide balance to the grapes.
The grapes were harvested during the cool nighttime hours to help preserve the wine’s delicate fruitiness. Pressed immediately, the juice was then cold fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit. To retain a lightly sweet flavor in the finished wine, fermentation was stopped early. The wine was kept very cold after fermentation in order to capture the slight carbonation released by the yeast, creating a lightly fizzy sensation on the palate.
52% Muscat Canelli
47% Orange Muscat
Total acid: 0.54g/100ml

With its fragrant aromas of orange blossom and citrus, this 2014 Moscato displays lightly sweet flavors with notes of Fuji apple and lemon cream. Its residual sugar is balanced out by a bright acidity, making it an excellent wine to pair with a wide variety of foods.
Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with a vision to create Napa Valley wines that would stand in the company of the world’s finest. He chose To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley as the home for Robert Mondavi Winery. This first-growth vineyard, located in Oakville, California, is renowned for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world, as well as for its Sauvignon Blanc grapes, from which Mr. Mondavi crafted his signature wine, Fumé Blanc.
Along with To Kalon Vineyard, Robert Mondavi Winery sources grapes from some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards, including Stag’s Leap (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc) and Carneros (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).
Mr. Mondavi believed that wines should reflect their origins, that they are the product of the soil, the climate, and the careful stewardship of those precious resources. He also believed in combining the newest techniques and technology with time-honored winemaking traditions.
